In October, 2022 I had to opportunity to visit the Boxotel, a sustainable hotel located in Montreal, Canada. Founded in 2016, Boxotel was designed with the environment in mind. Stated best by their website, Boxotel boasts numerous eco-friendly practices:
The housekeeping and towel and sheet replacement are not done daily (only as an option) during the same stay.
Natural and eco-friendly products and soaps are available in dispensers.
The automation of the temperature, light, and curtain controls helps minimize the entire hotel’s energy consumption.
Eco-friendly construction, maximizing the south-facing windows, and heated concrete floors: a winning energy-efficient combination that allows for indoor temperature control, combining passive solar, thermal mass, and home automation for total comfort.
Email billing to eliminate paper waste.
The inclusion of a recycling bin and a compost container in each room to eliminate paper and plastic waste.
What's more, Boxotel is aesthetically pleasing and in a prime location for site seeing. I visited the Boxotel for business, but it would also be amazing for a friend/family get-away. The interior of the hotel is designed with minimalist, modern furniture, and my favorite part, tons of live plants. Next time you're visiting Montreal, check out Boxotel. It'll be great for you and the environment!
